A deeper understanding of engineering

As we progress, we have been so lucky to have made new contacts and receive help from lots of amazing people.

We have been incredibly fortunate to team up with Coventry University Engineering department. Geoff Booth who runs the department gave us a tour of their workshop and facilities and offered to help cut the 3mm aluminium sheet metal we need for many of the key features of the time machine. It's an absolute joy to work with him and the pupils have gained a lot of knowledge from the process.

“As we progress with the project, the pupils are gaining a deeper understanding of proper engineering.”

Sadly we don't have the facilities to weld aluminium here, but in a fortunate turn of events, an old Bablake pupil said he would be happy to help us. He works for Unifabs (www.unifabs.eu) who specialise in sheet metal fabrication. We are so lucky to have this opportunity, but first we need to create a jig to give to them for the welding process.

As we progress with the project, the pupils are gaining a deeper understanding of proper engineering. Mr Vernon is teaching the pupils the proper techniques and helping them to open their minds to new ways to fabricate the parts. We have started manufacturing the following parts;

Hockey Pucks, Janitrol, Time Circuits Display, Exhaust Vents, Worm Hole Emitter and the Green Tubes.

Again, a huge thank you goes out to all of the wonderful people on DeLorean Time Machine Builders Facebook Group who have kindly let us use the CAD files for 3D printing and laser cutting.
