On a chilly winter morning on Saturday 21st January 2022 we took delivery of the iconic DeLorean car.
30 pupils stood at the gate waiting for the 80's classic car to arrive. After what seemed like hours, all of a sudden, there it was! As we opened the gates, the Back to the Future soundtrack was booming from Mr Hubbard's stereo. There was silence among the staff and pupils as they looked in disbelief as everyone stared at the car.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't wait to get started on the project.”
As the car was being reversed off the trailer the excitement started to build. Everyone was keen to sit in the car and get to know how it worked. Pupils, staff and parents chatted about the project with our kind sponsor Mr Hubbard as huge smiles grew across all of the faces who sat in the car
Pupil and Staff Reaction
The pupils and staff who are taking part in this project are huge Back to the Future fans, and have dreamed of working on, driving or even seeing a DeLorean.
Mr Parsons (DT Teacher)- "This is a dream come true. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't wait to get started on the project. I've been a huge fan of Back to the Future since I was a boy and to get to be a part of this journey is phenomenal. We can't thank Mr Hubbard enough."
Now that the car is here, the planning will begin. Pupils have been divided into teams and will work on different sections of the car. They will research each part and the team leader will guide their team to manufacture or buy in pre-made parts.
